Airport Metro Express stations receive security clearance

August 13, 2011 01:09 pm | Updated 01:09 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

The Delhi Metro Airport Express is all set to become fully operational after receiving mandatory safety clearance for two of its non-operational stations from the Commissioner for Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) on Friday.

The two stations — Dhaula Kuan and Delhi Aerocity — were inspected by CMRS R. K. Kardam on Tuesday. “Approval letter for both stations has been received from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety. He has given the green signal for their opening,” the sources said on Friday.

The approval or the opening of the two stations came almost after six months of the inauguration of the Reliance Infrastructure led high-speed metro link. At present, the line has four operational stations including New Delhi, Shivaji Stadium, IGI Airport and Dwarka Sector- 21.

The New Delhi and Shivaji stadium stations allow airport bound passengers to check-in to their flights for selected airlines. Once opened, the Dhaula Kuan station will also allow passengers to check-in.
