AIIMS controversy

July 16, 2011 12:35 pm | Updated 12:35 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

A group of Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates who have cleared the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences M. Sc Nursing Entrance Examination-2011 have charged the Institute with “cheating them off their seats”.

“Three OBC candidates - Parvathy Joshy, Sarita and Mohita Rani - have got an overall rank of 3, 8 and 14 respectively, but instead of letting them take their seats in the merit category they are being told to take admission against OBC seats. The Institute had advertised four OBC seats for the course. With the three merit list OBC candidates taking the seats, those who cleared the exam in the OBC category have been pushed out which isn't fair,” said one of the OBC candidates who has been left out.
