Advisor to Delhi CM who witnessed alleged assault on Chief Secretary resigns

Mr. Jain told The Hindu that he had resigned citing personal reasons and family commitments.

An advisor to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, V.K. Jain, who stated that he witnessed the alleged assault on Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash at Mr. Kejriwal's residence last month, has resigned, government officials said on Tuesday.

Mr. Jain, a retired IAS officer, attended a late night meeting at the Chief Minister's residence on February 19 where Mr. Prakash was allegedly assaulted by Aam Aadmi Party MLAs Amanatullah Khan and Prakash Jarwal in the presence of Mr. Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. In his statement under Section-164 of the Criminal Procedure Code, Mr. Jain said he saw the two MLAs assaulting the Chief Secretary.

Mr. Jain told The Hindu that he had resigned citing personal reasons and family commitments.

Prior to being appointed as advisor in 2017, Mr. Jain had retired as the CEO of the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board.
