Admission benefit for wards of paramilitary men

July 24, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:32 am IST - NEW DELHI:

The Delhi government has decided to give preference in admission to children of paramilitary forces personnel who have been honoured with bravery awards.

So far, only children of Army personnel enjoyed this advantage, which the Aam Aadmi Party government has now extended to the paramilitary forces as well.

The decision, which has been passed by Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia, will be implemented from this academic session.

“Paramilitary forces personnel work really hard for the safety and security of the countrymen. They are also responsible for maintaining law and order in the Naxal affected regions. This decision is being taken keeping in mind their spirit for service to the country,” Mr. Sisodia said.

With this new rule in place, students will have an advantage when it comes to admission in premier institutes such as Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology, Delhi Technology University, and Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology.
