With a view to prevent defacement of public property in the run-up to the Gurugram municipal polls, the district administration has earmarked places for putting up hoardings, and also appointed officials to ensure implementation of its directions.

Officials appointed

The district administration spokesperson said 233 places have been identified for candidates to display their publicity material for municipal elections in 35 wards, and Junior and Assistant Engineers have been appointed to ensure implementation of these directions.

Fifteen places each — the maximum — have been identified in wards number 26 and 19, while two places each — the minimum — have been identified in wards number 10 and 16.

Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (Zone 4) Joint Commissioner Gaurav Antil, who is the Nodal Officer, said all unauthorised hoardings and banners will be removed immediately. He said the District Town Planner (Enforcement) has been directed to remove all illegal hoardings and banners.

The administration has directed all licence holders to deposit their firearms and ammunitions with respective police stations and gunhouse owners. Gurugram District Magistrate Vinay Pratap Singh issued these orders under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code to maintain peace during the September 24 polls.

Also, only three vehicles of a candidate and his/her supporters will be allowed within a 100-metre radius of the Assistant Returning Officer’s office for filing of nominations. Apart from this, only five persons including the candidate will be allowed to enter the ARO’s office for filing nominations.
