Soon Delhi Metro’s train will whizz past with advertisements on its exterior with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation on Saturday inducting its first such train. In all, 15 trains — seven on the Jahangirpuri-HUDA City Centre (Line 2) and eight on the Dwarka Sector 21-Noida City Centre/Vaishali — will be inducted soon.

The first train was inducted on the Dwarka-Vaishali route going towards Vaishali. The first train on Line 2 will also be inducted by next week. “Currently, only six coach trains are being wrapped. Gradually, trains on other corridors will also be covered,” a DMRC spokesperson.

The advertisement wraps are part of the Delhi Metro’s steps to augment the non-operational revenues through advertisements. “Currently, the DMRC operates a fleet of over 200 train sets with over 60 eight-coach trains and over 80 six-coach trains. The ‘train wraps’ have been permitted on 10 per cent of the total train sets available on the operational lines of the Delhi Metro network,” said the spokesperson.
