A local court on Tuesday sent Ramesh Kumar, accused in the murder case of a Muslim boy in a local train, to 14 days’ judicial custody.
The police have so far failed to recover the murder weapon — a knife with which Kumar allegedly attacked Junaid and his two brothers — but decided not to seek an extension of his custody, which was only for two days.
‘He is being framed’
While Kumar’s family claimed that he was being framed and that the weapon would never be recovered, the Haryana Railway Police submitted that the accused’s custody may be required in future for recovery and identification of co-accused.
However, there was no mention about who the co-accused could be.
The police also submitted a hand-written statement of the accused where he refused a test identification parade.
Juanid’s brothers have questioned the police’s theory that Kumar was the one who stabbed them.
