Two members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) have been suspended by their organisation for allegedly attacking two All India Students Association (AISA) activists as they were leaving the “FightBackDU” rally on Tuesday.
The ABVP informed that the members were suspended for “indiscipline”.
Prashant Mishra and Vinayak Sharma of the AVBP allegedly tried to strangulate Raj Singh and Utkarsh Bhardwaj of the AISA near Khalsa College.
The AISA had circulated a video of the attack and had filed an FIR. The police had nabbed and booked the ABVP duo.
Saket Bahuguna, the National Media Convenor of the APVP, said his organisation condemned the act by the two students as they stood for a violence-free atmosphere on campus.
“On basis of preliminary information, the two members have been suspended from the party for their act of indiscipline. An interim enquiry has been ordered to take further action,” said Mr. Bahuguna.
Counter march
The ABVP on Wednesday organised class-to-class campaigning and distributed pamphlet ahead of their counter “Save DU” rally that is scheduled to be held at noon on Thursday.
The rally will begin at the Faculty of Arts and move towards Khalsa College and then head back via SRCC and Ramjas College.
