ABVP activists ‘beat up’ AISA volunteer

July 02, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:33 am IST - NEW DELHI:

A student activist who was working as an admissions volunteer in Deshbandhu College of DU was allegedly attacked by members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of RSS.

According to members of the All India Student’s Association (AISA) Abhinav Kumar “was attacked by five persons including Himanshu Bidhuri (Ramesh Bidhuri’s son), Rajat Chaudhary and three others, who were not even students of the college”.

He was rushed to AIIMS Trauma Centre in the afternoon where doctors found out that he had lost hearing in one ear.

However, ABVP national spokesperson Saket Bahuguna said: “The incident was nothing more than a heated argument between some students. AISA is unnecessarily giving it a dramatic turn.”

A senior police officer said that no case had been registered till Friday evening.
