The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday replaced one of its candidates, whose name had been pitched from south-west Delhi’s Mahavir Enclave.

Party gives no reason

The party said the candidate from ward number 52-S Mahavir Enclave had been replaced by Ajay Rai. The party did not give a reason for the move. “This change was made after thorough examination of candidature by the political affairs committee (PAC). We do not want to get into reasons,” a party spokesperson said.

Last week, the party had replaced 14 other candidates from Adarsh Nagar, Laxmi Park, Delhi Gate, Haiderpur, Jama Masjid, Karampura, Vishnu Garden, Khayala, Karawal Nagar-E, Nand Nagri, Sriniwaspuri, Govindpuri, Jaitpur and Kishanganj. No reasons were offered then too. The change, however, had incited displeasure among the replaced candidates, who complained that no reasons were given.
