Somnath Bharti gets pulled up for trying to bar media

May 22, 2015 02:46 pm | Updated 02:46 pm IST - NEW DELHI

Somnath Bharti, the lawyer of AAP leader Kumar Vishwas, was severely reprimanded for insinuating that media be barred from the courtroom – where he had challenged the summons issued by the Delhi Commission of Women against Mr. Vishwas.

“Do you even know the concept of a public hearing? By no stretch of the imagination would I even consider what you are trying to suggest,” said the court of Justice Rajiv Shakdher, while also coming down on the lawyer for not even filing an application along with the amended memo, which is a requirement.

“The court is exasperated,” said the Judge quietly, while dictating the terms of the notice issued to the complainant and the Delhi Commission of Women while ignoring Mr. Bharti's loud and repeated protests and arguments.
