The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday asked voters in north-west Delhi’s Bawana Assembly constituency to “teach Arvind Kejriwal a lesson” by supporting its candidate Ved Prakash in the upcoming by-poll.
Addressing two public meetings in the area, Union Minister Sanjeev Balyan said the people of Bawana felt “cheated” by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government even as the rest of Delhi was “witnessing development”.
‘Tales of forgery’
“The people of Bawana have been voting for either the Congress or the AAP for the last two decades. But both these parties have betrayed them. Ved Prakash resigned from the AAP and joined the BJP because Bawana was neglected and in this by-election, he is our candidate and is before the people of Bawana to win their confidence again,” Dr. Balyan said.
Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari and MP Udit Raj held eight meetings on Friday and Saturday. Addressing residents, they said that the AAP had “nothing to tell the people” except tales of “fraud, betrayal and forgery”, whereas the BJP was being guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’.
‘Seeped in corruption’
“The AAP has given to the people of Delhi atrocities by Somnath Bharti and Sandeep Kumar, the corruption of Mr. Kejriwal, the forgery of Jitender Tomar and the hawala of Satyendar Jain. The BJP, on the other hand, has given citizens schemes like Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao and Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, a sense of security, and corruption-free governance,” Mr. Tiwari said.
The time, Mr. Tiwari added, had come to “teach the AAP a lesson” and “free Bawana” from “the arrogant and dishonest gang of Mr. Kejriwal”.
