Formal launch will be on September 27, the 107th birth anniversary of revolutionary martyr Bhagat Singh

September 15, 2014 08:18 am | Updated 08:18 am IST - NEW DELHI:

The Aam Aadmi Party on Sunday announced the launch of its youth wing. This is the second frontal organisation of the party after the women’s unit that was set up last month.

Known as Aam Aadmi Party Youth Wing, the new organisation will focus on unemployment, women safety, and issues concerning youth and students of the country, said the party.

“The formal launch of the AAP Youth Wing will take place on September 27, the 107th birth anniversary of revolutionary martyr Bhagat Singh. The Youth Wing has planned programmes across the city to mark the occasion,” the AAP said in a statement.

The party will soon launch a drive to enrol young men and women below the age of 35 for the AAPYW.

Delhi, said a party leader, is a key area as the main organisation has a substantial presence and also because youth constitute one-third of the city's population.

“The organisational in-charge of all 14 districts of Delhi has been appointed and the work is on to set up committees in all 273 wards of the Capital. The immediate target after this is to extend the organisation to the booth level,” said the statement.

The Delhi unit will be headed by Jarnail Singh, the party MLA from Tilak Nagar, while Karol Bagh MLA Vishesh Ravi was named its convenor.
