The Light India exhibition is on at Pragati Maidan here with the theme revolving around energy efficient solutions and the switch from conventional lights to LED lights. A host of Chinese, Japanese and Indian companies have set up their stalls at exhibition halls number 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11.
Although the exhibition is mostly for business to business visitors, a walk around offers some fascinating insights into the developments in lighting solutions especially in the automation segment and the future of eco-friendly solution.
For those looking to set up a new home or wishing to give their old one a makeover a visit to the Phillips lounge is sure to throw up new ideas. Just by a click of a button on a tablet one can change the mood of the lighting at home. From lighting conducive to watching television to multicoloured lights when throwing a party, there is a solution for everything.
Shyam Sujan, secretary general of Elcoma, says although there are a number of Chinese stalls at the exhibition it has been found that Chinese products are not suitable for Indian weather conditions and therefore the Japanese are tying up with manufacturers in India to pass on technology so that products suitable for the Indian market can be developed and manufactured.
There is a lot of emphasis on energy efficient lighting and many Indian manufacturers are putting in money into research and development to come up with the most efficient solutions for home, office and street lighting.
V.P. Mahendru, CMD of Eon Electrical, says his company is in the process of introducing street lighting with sensors that will control the luminosity of light. The sensors will also be able to detect if there is movement on the road or how bright it is so that they can switch on or off accordingly. The exhibition will be on till September 21. Entry is by registration.
