Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Managing Director E. Sreedharan on Monday met Stephane Rambaud Measson, president of Mainline and Metros of Bombardier Transport, to discuss the issue of technical faults in the new trains.
The Bombardier group had supplied trains for the second phase.
According to DMRC officials, Dr. Sreedharan conveyed great concern over problems being faced by commuters caused by the technical problems in the newly introduced trains.
“Dr. Sreedharan was assured by Mr. Measson that the company has already initiated necessary corrective action to address issues and concerns raised by DMRC to mitigate the inconvenience caused to commuters,” said an official.
He said the Bombardier officials expressed confidence that the initial “teething problems” with the new trains would be overcome soon.
The new trains introduced in the system procured from the German major have had various technical glitches that in turn affected the performance of the Delhi Metro.
On November 8, a Bombardier train in an underground stretch between Rajiv Chowk and R.K. Ashram developed a technical glitch as a result of which the train came to an abrupt halt and stranded passengers forced open the doors and got onto the tracks.
On November 18, contact between a train and operations control room was lost owing to a software malfunction. Electrical problems too have been reported on several Bombardier trains.
