A male leopard was rescued in a five-hour operation after it strayed into the densely-populated Krishna Colony in neighbouring Palwal here on Thursday morning. A forest officer was injured by the leopard during the rescue operation.

Officials said skin pigments indicated that the feline belonged to Shivalik Hills.

Forest dept. alerted

The leopard, aged around four years, was first spotted by locals inside an abandoned building in Krishna Colony around 7 a.m. and the Forest Department was alerted. Soon, a team of over 10 forest officers led by two Divisional Forest Officials reached the spot. The police were called in for crowd management.

The leopard was eventually cornered. This is the third instance of a leopard straying into a residential area in Gurugram in the past few months.
