Cop ‘misbehaves’ with woman, faces action

January 03, 2017 12:54 am | Updated 12:54 am IST - Noida:

A policeman and his friends allegedly misbehaved with a woman at a pub in Sector 18 here on New Year’s Eve. Moti Yadav, who was posted at Sector 20 police station in Noida, has been attached to police lines. Incidentally, Sector 18 falls under the jurisdiction of the same police station.

Besides pubs and restaurants having made special arrangements for the occasion, senior police and Noida administration officials had held a meeting with pub and restaurants owners to prevent any untoward incidents that day.

Mr. Yadav and his three friends had gone to the pub, located at Center Stage Mall. They consumed alcohol before going to the dance floor, where they allegedly misbehaved with a woman. Sources said only couples were allowed inside the pub.

The woman complained to the pub manager, who requested the group not to trouble other guests. After the policeman threatened the pub manager with dire consequences, both sides got into a heated argument.

As the argument escalated, the pub manager informed senior police officers. The senior officers called Mr. Yadav and asked him to leave the place immediately. Preliminary investigation has found him guilty.

“The policeman went to the pub with his friends and got into a heated argument there. We have initiated action against him. We had given clear directions to all subordinates to avoid visiting pubs or restaurants for celebrations. They were asked to stay on duty to ensure law and order. Action was taken against him as he broke the rule,” said Noida Superintendent of Police Dinesh Yadav.
