Cong protests ‘anti-people’ policies of PM

January 08, 2017 12:31 am | Updated 12:31 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Protesting against what they termed were the “anti-people” policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress workers held demonstrations across the city on Saturday.

Protests were held in all the districts of the Capital and demanded that Mr. Modi answer allegations of corruption against him.

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi had raised the issue of Mr. Modi having allegedly taken bribes from industrial houses such as the Birla and Sahara groups.

As part of the Congress’ countrywide campaign, its Delhi unit also held demonstrations to protest against demonetisation.

Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson Sharmistha Mukherjee said that though Mr. Modi had asked for 50 days after announcing demonetisation on November 8, “economic anarchy” had continued.

The Delhi Mahila Congress will hold demonstrations on Monday.
