CBI submits report to NHRC on Bansal case

January 05, 2017 12:59 am | Updated 12:59 am IST - NEW DELHI:

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has submitted its report to the National Human Rights Commission on allegations by former Director-General, Corporate Affairs, B.K. Bansal, who allegedly committed suicide along with his son in September last year.

The CBI had arrested Bansal on bribery charges in July. Two days later, his wife and daughter committed suicide. In September, he and his son ended their lives, leaving behind suicide notes alleging that they were harassed by some CBI officials, including Deputy Inspector-General Sanjiv Gautam.

Following an internal inquiry, the agency removed Mr. Gautam from the team which is probing the allegations against the former Corporate Affairs official that he allegedly received bribes to favour a pharmaceutical company in an investigation.
