After reports came out of alleged shoddy investigation by the Indirapuram police into the Ghaziabad accident that killed four people, senior officers, including Ghaziabad Senior Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar and Uttar Pradesh DGP Javeed Ahmad are now keeping a close tab on the probe to avoid further goof-up.
Credentials not verified
A man claiming to be one Ishaq Ahmad had surrendered before a court saying that he was driving the Audi Q7 that was involved in the accident on January 27. Indirapuram police officers courted controversy when it turned out that they had not cross-checked Ishaq’s credentials before forwarding reports to the court. These developments later led to the police saying that they had not given a clean chit to the SUV owner Dr. Manish Rawat.
Fingerprints to be checked
The police have now decided to take fingerprints and check the location of Dr. Rawat at the time of the incident and gather electronic and forensic evidence into the matter. “Once Dr. Rawat and the driver, who claimed to be driving the SUV at the time of the incident join the investigation, we will cross-question both of them. We will gather manual and electronic evidence,” said Deepak Kumar, SSP Ghaziabad. Initially, the police had given a clean chit to Dr. Rawat.
