55-year-old held for molestation

He lured daughter with candy: father

A 55-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly molesting a five-year-old girl from in Khatana village of Jarcha in Greater Noida on Tuesday morning, the police said.

The accused, Navin Sharma, is a farmer based in Khatana village, the police said. The victim’s parents in their complaint alleged that the accused lured the girl with a candy and molested her on Monday evening.

“We had received a complaint from the girl’s father. He said the incident happened around 4 p.m. when their daughter was playing in the village. Mr. Sharma, who knew the girl, lured her with a candy,” said Shalendra Pratap Singh, Station House Officer, Jarcha police station.

The girl followed him to the field, where he molested her, the police added. He has been booked him under Sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 354 (A) of the IPC for sexual harassment and Section 7/8 of the POCSO Act.

“The girl told her father about the incident. He registered a complaint on Monday evening. We are questioning the accused. He does not have a criminal record,” Mr. Singh said.

A 48-year-old constable posted with tge Gautam Budh Nagar police was recently arrested for allegedly trying to molest and rape a six-year-old girl inside a police post. He was arrested from Ecotech III of Greater Noida, the police said.
