Doctors at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital gave a new lease of life to a 38-year-old woman after they removed a 5.5 kg tumour from her chest. The left wall of her chest, including the breast, had to be reconstructed after the tumour removal.

Chest pain

Resham (name changed), a native of Kotputli in Rajasthan, had come to the hospital with an enlargement, which had been growing for the past 18 years, on the left side of her chest. She was also suffering from chest pain and difficulty in breathing. The deformity caused by the tumour also had psychological effect on her as she didn’t step out of the house. Her husband brought her to the hospital. The nine-hour surgery was done on February 20. Resham was in the ICU for three days and discharged 10 days later.
