4,055 cases settled at Lok Adalat

A total of 4,055 cases were settled at the Lok Adalat conducted by the Delhi State Legal Services Authority on Saturday. The Lok Adalats were organised in all the six district court complexes in the Capital.

A total of 53 Benches comprising judges of district courts were constituted in which 3,852 cases were disposed of relating to Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act (cheque dishonour), civil, electricity, matrimonial cases, criminal compoundable offences and traffic cases pending in various courts here.

In addition, 158 criminal cases were disposed of by way of plea bargaining in the special sitting conducted by the Metropolitan Magistrates. Forty-three cases pertaining to Motor Accident Claims were also disposed of in which the compensation amount of Rs.90.85 lakh was awarded. There would be no further appeals in the cases disposed of on Saturday, the DLSA said.
