A total of 30 nominated members or Alderman have been appointed to the three civic bodies by the Delhi government, officials said on Wednesday.
While the notification would be out in the coming days, officials said the Lieutenant-Governor had cleared the list of 30 nominated councillors sent by the AAP government. Each corporation has 10 nominated members who don’t have voting rights, but are supposed to be experts and experienced individuals meant to assist the House. According to government sources, AAP volunteers are among those nominated for the five-year term.
Meanwhile, boundaries of zones of the South and the East Delhi bodies, which had been pending with the government, have been cleared by the UD Department. Boundaries of the North body are yet to be cleared. Officials said this was due to the North body’s proposal to increase the number of zones, in violation of the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act.
