Three of the five Ugandan women, residents of Khirki Extension in South Delhi, who had lodged complaints against the State Law Minister Somnath Bharti have gone untraced, claimed sources in the Delhi Commission for Women on Tuesday. The DCW plans to report the matter to the police seeking appropriate action.
Some members of the Commission have alleged that prior to the “sudden and mysterious disappearance,” the women had verbally complained that they were being threatened by some Aam Admi Party supporters as they had identified Mr. Bharti before the magistrate as one of those who conducted a “vigilante raid” in the area last month.
“The last I spoke to the complainants was on Friday when one of them told me that she was unwell. I asked her to contact me if she needed anything. On Monday, when I tried to contact her again, her phone was switched off. I kept trying to contact her but she has been untraceable since then,” a DCW member said.
Refuting the allegations, an Aam Admi Party member said: “These are all baseless reactions. These complaints are coming from a woman who is behaving less like chief of a constitution body, and more like a politician.”
