Three men were arrested on Tuesday for robbing a jeweller of over ₹60 lakh in Malviya Nagar on June 15. They were nabbed after CCTV footage from the area revealed the registration numbers of the two bikes used by them.

Others on the run

Azeem (26), Dilshad Mohammad (26) and Saurabh Verma (24), all native of Uttar Pradesh, were arrested from their rented hideout at Shaheen Bagh. They told the police that the mastermind, Shamshad, and three other accomplices, Abid, Rizwan and Shabbu, were on the run.

“Interrogation revealed that Shamshad had committed several robberies. He would make new teams from his native village each time he planned something,” said DCP (South) Ishwar Singh.

Bikes stolen

“Both bikes were found to be stolen. One had a fake number plate. The second bike was discovered in Shaheen Bagh,” he said.

Azeem was arrested and he led the police to Dilshad and Saurabh. Two firearms, six live cartridges, one meat chopper, five helmets, gold and diamond jewellery and some precious stones were recovered. On June 15, four men wearing helmets entered a jewellery shop and robbed it at gunpoint.
