A two-year-old girl was killed, while three of her family members were injured, when the auto they were travelling in allegedly hit a DTC bus in south Delhi’s Sheikh Sarai on Sunday.

The incident happened when Kuldeep Lal along with his wife and two daughters— Upeksha (5) and Poorvi (2)— were going to the Anand Vihar ISBT to catch a bus to Muradabad. The family, residents of Dakshinpuri, had a function to attend in the Uttar Pradesh town.

Family stable

When they reached Sheikh Sarai, their auto hit a bus. The family suffered severe injuries and were rushed to Max Hospital in Saket, where Poorvi died during treatment. The police said the driver was speeding, due to which the impact of the accident was worse.

Meanwhile, the condition of Poorvi’s family members is said to be stable.

“The three are out of danger. The auto driver also suffered injuries and is being treated at the AIIMS Trauma Centre. He is also said to be stable,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-East) Romil Baaniya.

The officer added that a case under sections 279 (rash driving), 338 (causing hurt by act endangering life) and 304A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC had been registered.
