: Two city police officials — the Officer in-charge of Latasil police station Chidananda Bora and Sub-inspector of Paltan Bazar police station Samsuddin Ahmed were removed from their duties and a case was registered against them based on an FIR lodged by a lady journalist of a private satellite news channel in which she accused them of “assaulting and attempting to murder her and a cameraperson of the channel” and “attempting to outrage her modesty” inside the police station around 12.15 p.m. when they had gone to the police station for gathering information for a news story on the police quarters on the premises of the police station.

The lady journalist stated in the FIR, a copy of which was sent to the Commissioner of Police, Guwahati, that they had entered the police compound after taking permission at the entry gate of the police station to capture video images of police quarters in the compound in connection with a story on the dilapidated condition of the quarters and allegations of policemen renting out the quarters.
