A 19-year-old boy was hit by a speeding bike on Sunday night in west Delhi’s Meera Bagh while crossing the road. The victim was immediately taken to the nearby Balaji Action hospital but succumbed to injuries on Tuesday morning. The biker was arrested from the spot.

Family gathering

The boy, identified as Ankush Dhingra, a college student, was a resident of Uttam Nagar and had come to Meera Bagh for a family gathering. According to the police, the speeding bike hit Dhingra while he was crossing the road in front of Block A of the area.

The police confirmed that the accused, resident of Khyala’s Vishnu Garden, wasn’t inebriated at the time and has been booked under 279/337 and 304(A) of the Indian Penal Code.

The incident happened on the same night as 17-year-old Atul Arora’s accident in Paschim Vihar, not very far from Meera Bagh.

Arora, a Class XII commerce student of Bal Bharati Public School, got hit by a speeding Mercedes and died on the spot.
