A 19-year-old woman has alleged that she was drugged and sexually assaulted during a meeting with two of her acquaintances on the pretext of a job interview on Sunday evening.
The police said they had registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on the basis of her complaint but were investigating the matter before making any arrests pertaining to it. Madhur Verma, deputy commissioner of police (north) said the victim was rescued and rushed to hospital.
“She was heavily intoxicated when the police team found her in the Civil Lines area; reports pertaining to her medical examination are expected soon,” said Mr. Verma.
“When she regained consciousness, she has claimed, she found herself on the street and made a PCR call when she realised that she was far from her residence,” the officer added.
What followed was the swift detention of the two men based on the victim's complaint; they were interrogated by a police team during which the prime accused not only denied having raped the victim but claimed that he does not own any office in Sonia Vihar.
