The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has once against sought closure of a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case against former Union Minister Jagdish Tytler.
The wife of a man, who was killed by a mob along with two others at Gurdwara Pul Bangas in North Delhi in the riots, had accused Mr. Tytler of inciting the mob.
The riots had broken out in the wake of the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The CBI had earlier in 2007 and 2009 sought to close the case but the court had rejected it.
Meanwhile, Senior Advocate H. S. Phoolka who has been fighting the case expressed his displeasure over the clean chit given to Mr. Tytler.
“It is highly unfortunate that the CBI has quietly filed a closure report in the case giving a clean chit to Tyler,” Mr. Phoolka said, adding that it was kept secret for three months.
