A 15-year-old girl was sexually assaulted at knife-point allegedly by a senior student at her school in Outer Delhi’s Rohini late last month.
However, nearly a week after the registration of the case, the police have not been able to apprehend the 17-year-old in conflict with law.
The victim is a student of Class IX while the boy is enrolled in Class X of the same school in Rohini, Sector-9.
According to the police, the alleged incident took place on November 25. In her complaint, the girl told the police that the boy took her to one of the rooms on the second floor of the school building on the pretext of discussing an important issue.
“The area was secluded and it is alleged that the boy forced himself upon her,” said a senior police officer. Sources said she first reported the matter to the school authorities and when they did not take any action, she informed her family members.
The girl lives with her relatives as her parents are not alive. She told them that the accused threatened her with dire consequences if she reported the matter to anyone.
“This is why the victim did not reveal anything for the first three days. Later, she broke down and narrated her ordeal to her aunt,” the officer said.
The police are checking if a CCTV footage is available where she can be seen walking with the boy on the second floor. She was even counselled by NGO workers but she twice refused to get medical examination.
A case was then registered under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act at the Prashant Vihar police station on November 28.
Investigation was taken up. When the police reached the boy’s house, he was absconding. The officer added that they were questioning his family members. “We suspect that they are aware of his whereabouts but are not cooperating in the probe,” said a police source.
The boy’s father is a property dealer.
