Complaining about his classmates to their teacher proved costly for a 15-year-old boy who was allegedly beaten to death by his two classmates.
The two boys, aged 14 and 15, were apprehended from their ancestral home in Haryana’s Jhajjar on Monday where they had escaped after killing Subham Jindal.
A class nine student at a private school in southwest Delhi’s Najafgarh area, Jindal was recently made the class monitor. “He would complain against his classmates to their teachers and that had left many of them angry with him. Recently he had complained against the two boys which left them seeking revenge against him,” said RA Sanjeev, DCP (South-West).
Since all the three boys lived in the same locality in Chhawla, they went out cycling together around 4 p.m. on Sunday. The two accused boys lured him to an empty place and beat him to death with sticks and stones.
When Shubham did not return home by 6 p.m., his parents started looking for him. When their efforts yielded no results, they approached Chhawla police station where they registered a case of kidnapping.
DCP Sanjeev said that a patrolling team came across Jindal’s body near a petrol pump.
“His bicycle was found near the body itself. The body was sent for post-mortem,” said the officer.
A case of kidnapping has been altered to that of murder and investigations have been started.
“Some locals revealed that they had last seen Shubham cycling with his two classmates. Police visited their home, but they were found missing. They had escaped to their ancestral home in Jhajjar from where our team apprehended them,” the officer said. Shubham’s mother said that he did not want to become the class monitor, but was compelled to become one. Shubham was the only child to his parents.
