A three-and-a-half-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by a 11-year-old boy who lives in her neighbourhood in Outer Delhi’s Mangolpuri.

The juvenile has been apprehended.

The girl, meanwhile, was admitted to the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital. She was discharged on Sunday.

The accused had reportedly lured the girl on the pretext of giving her sweets and raped her, the police said.

No child’s play

The incident happened on Friday evening when the girl was playing outside her residence. A police officer said the parents of the girl said the two children playing together was routine.

“While playing, he lured the girl into a park on the pretext of giving her sweets and sexually assaulted her,” the officer said.

When the girl started crying, the boy fled from the spot. The girl’s family launched a search when they found the children missing.

A neighbour spotted the girl crying and informed the family, who rushed her to hospital.

A case under the provisions of the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been registered.
