Youth get two years RI for snatching chain

A court in Mettupalayam has convicted two persons for chain-snatching and sentenced them to undergo two years rigorous imprisonment. According to the prosecution, on January 11, 2009, when Subbulakshmi of Sirumugai was walking along the road, Adeesh (20) of M.R.P. Nagar and Ababil (20) of S.M. Nagar, came on a motorcycle and snatched her four sovereign gold chain.

Based on her complaint, Sirumugai police had registered a case.

Judicial Magistrate Rafiq pronounced the two as guilty and sentenced them to two years rigorous imprisonment.

Money stolen

Ravikumar of Edappadi, Salem, lost Rs.16,500 in cash, kept in his pocket, while travelling in a bus from Periyanaickenpalayam. The police have registered a case and are on the look out for the accused.
