Awareness programmes on conservation and responsible use of water marked commemoration of World Water Day in the city on Wednesday. Siruthuli conducted a mobile vehicle campaign on water conservation in connection in which volunteers conducted awareness sessions for the public at six places.

The sessions sensitised public to the importance of reducing wastage of water and how Noyyal water bodies are affected by sewage contamination. The campaign was flagged off by DCP (traffic) S. Saravanan in the presence Vanitha Mohan, managing trustee, Siruthuli, at 7 a.m. at Race Course.

Through games, volunteers showed public how much water is being wasted during routine activities. The volunteers conducted awareness activities at Race course, Ukkadam, Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, Gandhipuram, Saibaba Colony and VOC Park.

Coimbatore district administration has asked the people to not fall prey to rumours on water supply and take to the streets.
