The World Environment Week celebrations by the Chennai Silks group of companies came to an end on Sunday with a cycle rally, which was flagged off by the Managing Director of Chennai Silks, T.K. Chandran, in the presence of General Manager Syed Musthak.

The Environment Week celebrations that began on June 5 and concluded on Sunday was organised by The Chennai Silks, SCM Garments, Sri Kumaran Thangamaaligai and KTM Jewellery for the second consecutive year.

Painting and quiz contests were conducted in both the showrooms of Chennai Silks. On Sunday, more than 100 saplings were planted in Harini Arcade – Vadavalli and at Arulmigu Marudhamalai Surbamaniaswamy Devasthanam High School.

As part of the event, an awareness programme on plastics was conducted.

The cycle rally flagged off at Marudhamalai foothills ended at the Marudhamalai Devasthanam High School.

In the quiz competition held at Oppanakkara Street showroom, S. Saranya of Sundarapuram and R. Gurumoorthy of Podanur shared the first prize, the second prize went to Swathi from Singanallur, R. Raja and V. Aravindh. The third place went to G. Shankar and R. Aishwarya. In the painting competition, S. Sathya, V. Manoj Kumar and G. Somasundaram bagged the first three prizes respectively.

In the quiz competition held at the second showroom on Oppanakkara Street, S. Gowri of Singanallur, S. Krithika from Somanur and P. Gokul of Ranga Gounder Street bagged the first three prizes. In the painting competition, M. Roshini, K. Vijay and R. Sruthi bagged the first three prizes respectively.

In the quiz competition held at Cross Cut Road showroom, S. Raghuraman, D. Sri Sowmya and Oviya bagged the first three prizes. In the painting competition P. Sriram, R. Shanmuga Priya and P.P. Saghithya bagged the first three prizes.
