Worker killed in accident in Coimbatore

Daily wager Senthilkumar (36) was killed in a road accident on Thanneerpandal Road on Sunday afternoon. Residents of the area and Senthilkumar’s friends staged a protest at the accident site alleging that the traffic investigation wing police have let off the accused, a car driver. They sought proper investigation.

According to police sources, the accident took place when Senthilkumar’s motorcycle and a car collided. In the impact of the collision, he died on the spot. The police reached the spot to conduct investigation but the residents, who gathered at the spot on hearing about the news, alleged that the police had let off the car driver for a consideration.

They then staged a protest demanding that the police conduct an honest and thorough inquiry.

The Peelamedu police rushed to the spot, pacified the agitating public by assuring them that the traffic investigation wing police would do their best.

The protesting public also demanded that the authorities concerned repair the damaged Thanneerpandal Road. The protest affected the flow of traffic in the area.

Senthilkumar, who lived in Vinobaji Nagar, Vilankurichi, is survived by wife Kavitha and daughters Nivetha and Harini.
