Vehicles are forced to use only half the width of the road

The storm water drain work on the lanes connecting LIC Road with Balasundaram Road has troubled road users.

The dug earth placed on the road has eaten away almost one half of the road, because of which vehicles moving along the drain side are forced to use the other half of the road.

This leads to traffic congestions and also accidents, as the lanes have a couple of blind curves.

The loose earth on the road has also caused accidents, sources say.

They want the Coimbatore Corporation to complete the storm water drain work at the earliest, remove the earth and restore the road width.

Ward 27 Councillor S. Yamuna Devi attributes the delay in work to shortage of labour.

Sources in the engineering wing of the Corporation say that the work has been progressing at a slow pace.

Cement-lining the drain is yet to be completed, they say and promise to complete the work at the earliest.

Even before the completion of the work the sources say they will ask the contractor to clean the road and ensure that the traffic congestion is eased and loose earth is removed.
