Woman kills husband

The police on Monday arrested D. Kuppathal (40) on the charges of murdering her husband earlier on the day.

The police said that K. Duraisamy (45) was killed using a sickle while he was sleeping.

Duraisamy was said to have harassed her and two children in an inebriated condition the previous night which prompted Kuppathal to murder him.

The police said that there was a case pending against Duraisamy in Dharapuram Police Station for harassing his wife in 2012.

Gambling: 30 held

In raids conducted across the district on Sunday night and during the early hours of Monday, the police arrested 30 people on the charges of gambling.

Six motorcycles and Rs. 25,000 were seized.

The police said that arrests were made under Section 12 of the Tamil Nadu Gambling Act.

Lottery tickets

The police arrested A. Kalingaraj (38) on the charges of trying to sell lottery tickets at Udumalpet.

Ten tickets were seized from him.

Nine arrested

Nine members of Naam Tamilar Katchi were arrested for trying to block trains here on Monday.

They want Sri Lankan military officials at Wellington to be sent back.
