Jeniffer Ponmalar (28), wife of Dinakaran Pakiaraj, committed suicide by jumping off a bridge on Pollachi-Anamalai Road on Monday night. According to the Anamalai Police, the incident happened when Ponmalar and Pakiaraj were returning home on a two-wheeler from Pollachi. The couple had left for Pollachi earlier in the evening after Ponmalar’s brother Jayakumar had reportedly asked the couple to move out of the house that was “too small to accommodate five people”.

Ponmalar along with Pakiaraj stayed at her parents’ place. The police said that Ponmalar had asked Pakiaraj to stop the vehicle, got down and ran towards the bridge and jumped. Pakiaraj took her in an ambulance to a private hospital where she died. She had suffered head injuries.
