It aims to enhance teaching skills of arts and science faculty
Wipro Limited launched Mission 10X – to enhance the teaching skills of arts and science faculty of Bharathiar University – at Sri Krishna Arts and Science College here on Monday.
A Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity of the corporate, the launch included a three-day training for 28 teachers from 12 colleges of the university.
Speaking at the launch, Vishwanathan Venkatasubramanian, National Campus Manager of Wipro Limited, pointed out that Mission 10X which had already trained the faculty of engineering colleges, was now being extended to arts and science faculty.
“Wipro has recruited nearly 4,000 students from arts and science colleges last year. They are equally good as engineering students in all aspects. They lack aptitude skills, communication skills and employability skills, as do the engineering students. The company wanted to improve the personality of the students to overcome these deficiencies. It is not easy to reach out to all the students. Hence, we are training the faculty, who will reach out to the students,” he said.
The training was designed with the idea that the right person to improve skills, creativity and innovation among students, was the teacher.
G. James Pitchai, Vice-Chancellor of Bharathiar University, said there was a need for universities and colleges to work closely with information technology and information technology-enabled companies.
“Higher educational institutions have a responsibility to impart subject knowledge, skills and attitude to students so that they are gainfully employed,” he said.
S. Malarvizhi, Managing Trustee and Chairperson of Sri Krishna Institutions, and K. Sundararaman, principal of the college, were present at the function.
