The windscreens of seven Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation Limited buses and a few private buses were damaged on Friday evening and Saturday by a group of unidentified persons, in the wake of the death of former MLA and senior Pattali Makkal Katchi leader Kaduvetti Guru at Chennai on Friday.

Injured

On Friday night, miscreants hurled stones at government and private buses in Mecheri. Prabakaran (25), a private bus driver, suffered injuries and was admitted to Government Hospital in Mettur.

Likewise stones were hurled at two government buses at Attur, two near Dalmia Board, one at Yethapur and at two buses from Salem that were heading to Coimbatore. The incidents triggered panic among passengers. Buses to interior places were not operated. On Saturday, police personnel were posted at many areas and they monitored the operation of buses.
