September 05, 2013 01:39 pm | Updated June 02, 2016 09:26 am IST - COIMBATORE:

After nearly 10 days, daily load shedding came down to two hours on Wednesday.

Wind energy generation on Wednesday morning was 641 MW and on Tuesday evening it was 2,367 MW. Load shedding in the State on Wednesday morning was 1,186 MW. Wind energy generation was less than 20 MW last Friday morning.

According to K. Kasthurirangaian, chairman of the Indian Wind Power Association, nearly 33 million units of wind energy were generated in the State on Tuesday. When the winds are good, wind energy generation should be tapped fully, he said.

K. Kathirmathiyon, secretary of Coimbatore Consumer Cause, said that wind energy generation gives only temporary relief as the generation will be available only when during the windy season. A permanent solution should be found.
