Wildlife census from March 11

Wildlife census will be conducted in the six ranges of the Coimbatore Forest Division for three days from March 11 to 13.

Talking to The Hindu , District Forest Officer V. Thirunavukkarasu said that more than 125 volunteers and 125 Forest Department staff would be involved in the census exercise to enumerate larger carnivores, mammals and smaller animals.

Personnel and volunteers would be deployed in 50 blocks in 43 beats to cover the entire 690 sq km forest area.
