Week-long events to reinforce safe driving and road habits among students and the public took off at Air Force Administrative College (AFAC) here on Monday.

Safe Driving Week, to end on February 1, has various activities to impress upon the road users and those driving four-wheelers and riding two-wheelers the need to be safe and also make it safe for fellow road users.

A.K. Viswanathan, Commissioner of Police, launched a signature campaign promoting safe driving and also inaugurated the stalls that were put up as part of the Safe Driving Week. M.S.G. Menon, Commandant, AFAC, students and visitors also signed on the board.

Representatives of Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation explained the safety aspects to students of Air Force School and visitors using the mobile road safety bus that had charts and other aids to showcase road rules.

Competition

A painting and colouring competition on the theme was organised for school students by Pressanna Automobiles.

Those interested can visit the stalls for free check up, demonstration on road safety aspects, and for pollution checks.

Other events that will be held during the week are lectures and presentations on road etiquette, tips on saving fuel, poster/slogan competition, rangoli competition, and dog show by the police.
