As of July 5, the water level in the Siruvani Dam stood at 871 m or 24.93 feet. On the day, the city had received 68 million litres and the rainfall received in the dam was 35 mm. The situation was far better than what it was a month ago, when the level was below the dead storage level of 863.4 m.

Rain from the South-West Monsoon in the past month had led to the increase in water level, which is the best in the last five years. The July 5 readings since 2009 indicate that the 2013 was the second best.

On July 5, 2009, the water level was 10.99 feet, the next year it was 18.37 feet, in 2011 it was 31.49 feet and in 2012 it was 6.88 feet. Given the good rain, the water level had increase and so had the supply to the city.In the 24 hours ending 8 a.m. Saturday, Cincona recorded 31 mm rain, Chinnakalar 39 mm, Valparai PAP 28 mm, and Valparai Taluk Office 26 mm.

The total rain recorded in the district was 124 mm.

Other rain gauge stations did not report rain.
