The National Federation of the Blind, Tamil Nadu Western Sub-Branch, organised a fast here on Tuesday pressing the demand for the quota for the differently abled to be increased from three per cent to six per cent, besides others.

According to Coordinator T. Sadhasivam, State and Central assistance for the differently abled should be made available on the basis of the national ID card.

There was also a demand that the State Government increase the differently abled monthly pension from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 3,000.

Those who have applied for a job under the three per cent quota should be provided job on an immediate basis.

Other assistance and concessions in the form of housing, and giving priority to children of differently abled, were stressed.
