‘Use natural rubber for laying roads’

With the Central Government giving a thrust to road projects, several sectors are looking at blends for roads. The Coir Board recently appealed to the Union Government to give a boost to use of coir geo textiles and explained about its trial projects in Kerala and Madhya Pradesh, where coir was used in road works.

N. Dharmaraj, president of the United Planters’ Association of Southern India (UPASI), has said in a press release that there is a huge potential for use of rubberised bitumen in road laying projects and trials have shown encouraging results.
