The 117th annual conference of the United Planters Association of Southern India (UPASI) will be held at Coonoor on September 14.

Stating this in a press note issued at Coonoor on Saturday, the President, UPASI T.V.Alexander said that the Union Minister of Law and Justice M. Veerappa Moily will be the Chief Guest.

The Additional Secretary, Ministry of Commerce A.K. Mangotra will be the Guest of Honour.

The Main Conference will be preceded by a full day session on Commodities on September 13.

During the forenoon there will be a technical session with presentations on carbon trading possibilities in plantations. In the afternoon there will be a session on Commodity Outlook.

Papers will be presented by the chairmen of Tea, Coffee, Rubber and Spices Boards.

The UPASI Industrial Exhibition which will form part of the Conference will provide an ideal platform for showcasing technological and scientific advancements in the Plantation Sector.
